Golf Superintendent is responsible for overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides) to ensure quality playing conditions. Oversees continued development of golf course during golf season to improve playing conditions and maintenance of course during off-season. Being a Golf Superintendent manage purchasing, replenishment, and inventory of all materials, supplies, and equipment used to maintain golf course. Liaises with the Head Golf Professional on any issues related to golf course operations and maintenance. Additionally, Golf Superintendent typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a golf course general manager. The Golf Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Position Summary
The Assistant Superintendent works with all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the golf course. The assistant superintendent is expected to observe golf course conditions and make suggestions or observations known to the Golf Course Superintendent. This position works in all facets of golf course management with an emphasis on irrigation, fertilizer/pesticide, and employee management under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent. The ideal candidate possesses a practical knowledge base in the following areas: maintenance of a golf course landscape - greens, tees, and fairways; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, herbicides and pest control methods; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems including pumps and automatic controls.
Key Responsibilities - Skills, Aptitude, and Knowledge:
This individual works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to supervise, schedule and train a staff of full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees.
Ability to supervise maintenance work and staff to achieve the most efficient utilization or workers and equipment while being accountable for the finished results of work.
Coordinate with the superintendent in the planning, scheduling, and implementation of maintenance practices and projects.
Apply fertilizers and plant protectants, including calibration sprayers and spreaders. Record all applications and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Perform irrigation scheduling and make basic irrigation repairs.
Perform basic mowing tasks and cultural practices when needed.
Safely operate golf course equipment including but not limited to carts, mowers, rollers, rakes, loaders, automobiles, etc.

Requirements:
Valid Driver License
Two-year certificate, associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Turf Grass Management or related field preferred.
Ability to obtain NM pesticide license within six (3) months of employment.
1-3 years golf course maintenance experience.
Ability to work scheduled holidays and weekends.
