  • JOB DESCRIPTION Under direction, the Grant Development Coordinator will actively pursue third-party grants through RFPs and the submission of interest letters to appropriate granters. The Grant Writer will be responsible for supporting complete, timely and appropriate grant fund expenditure, and ensuring that grant-funded activities are completed or amended in a manner consistent with grant requirements. The Grant Development Coordinator will be responsible for working with school based staff and community partners to ensure compliance with district procedures governing fund raising and grant-related partnerships. Additionally, the Grant Development Coordinator will assist in the creation, development and maintenance of an annual fundraising plan; as well as drafting fundraising letters and appeals and assisting with the planning and execution of special events. EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors Degree in education or social sciences and three years of development experience, or equivalent experience. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES Fundraising through Third Party Grants The Grant Development Coordinator will implement a development campaign that includes the following components: Develop and implement a process for the submission of concept papers and solicitation letters to potential funders Cultivates relationships with funders/donors Work with school teams and/or teachers to support the writing and submission of school-level grant applications to third party funders Communicate, manage, and enforce PSD policies and procedures related to third party grant applications and grant-related community partnerships Serve as a resource to district Teaching and Learning staff, teachers, and parents interested in pursuing third party grants, including facilitating workshops, attending meetings, and writing letters of support related to grant fundraising Active and regular research and track available RFPs with goals that coincide with district priorities and needs Publication of regular grant bulletins and updates that keep Teaching and Learning and school-based staff apprised of grant opportunities Design, write, and submit grant applications as requested by the Development Director, Chief of Staff, Superintendent, or School Board Other duties as assigned. Management of Active Grant Awards: Engage in regular communication with project managers/coordinators to discuss project progress; specifically supports project managers/coordinators with tracking against key milestones and accounting Collect spend-down reports from PSD budget officers and communication with program managers/coordinators In collaboration with district staff, plan, prepare, and submit grant amendments necessary to fully expand grant funds and meet project goals Submit or support the submission of final project reports that meet the requirements and deadlines of the granter Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS Demonstrated success with competitive third party fund raising or related development activity Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concisely and appropriately for a wide variety of audiences; Experience with grant management, including oversight of program implementation and expenditures , preferred Ability to work independently and without oversight by effectively managing time and prioritizing projects to ensure timely completion Ability to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Under supervision, ability to design and be accountable for appropriate and accurate budgeting for complex, multi-year, multi-million dollar initiatives Sophisticated knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and web-based interfaces for the purposes of writing, budgeting, and research Experience and comfort with web-based research, including the review and utilization of academic research in persuasive writing Plan and lead staff training workshops related to grant writing and fund-raising Ability to work effectively with executive staff, Teaching and Learning staff, school-based administrators, teachers, and community members to pursue funding opportunities Interest, enthusiasm, and affinity for fundraising, grant writing, and working with people. Work well in multicultural teams and with diverse constituencies. Self-motivated, work well under pressure and be able to handle several projects at one time. Good judgment, ability to maintain confidentiality, and ability to work independently and with teams
