Hardware Engineering Manager jobs in Maryland

Role Description

This is a full-time role for an Engineering Manager, Firmware/Hardware. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers in the development and maintenance of firmware and hardware solutions. They will oversee the entire product development lifecycle, including software development, project management, and integration. This role is based in Timonium, MD and requires on-site presence.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all FW/HW development projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery within scope for AiRISTA's innovative hardware products.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans aligned with industry standards and internal quality procedures, contributing to AiRISTA's evolving quality roadmap.
• Play a key role in the QMS implementation team.
• Maintain and version control all technical documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
• Create comprehensive handover packages for manufacturing teams, including BOMs, drawings, design files, firmware, PCB layouts, and packaging specifications.
• Craft clear FW release notes and keep procedures current.
• Partner with product management and services teams by providing troubleshooting support, custom FW development, and technical content for marketing materials.

Preferred Requirements and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field
• Additional degrees and or certification in firmware development, PCB design and/or plastic molding are a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of experience leading an engineering team.
• Knowledge and experience in at least one of the following fields: Radio transmission technologies (Wi-Fi, BLE, ...), PCB design, Plastic molding and/or enclosure design
• Proficiency in C programming, TI and Nordic SDKs,, design software (Autodesk Fusion 360) and programming tools (XpertFlashProgrammer)
• Familiarity with quality management systems and ISO compliance.
