Head Nurse - CCU directs nursing service activities for assigned critical/coronary care unit patients.     Job Description:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team in Johnson City, NY. This is a 13-week contract position, ideal for a dedicated healthcare professional looking to make a significant impact in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide high-quality care to critically ill patients in a 14-bed ICU unit.
    • Manage a nurse-patient ratio of 1:2, ensuring comprehensive and attentive care.
    • Perform trauma management and post-operative care for procedures including craniotomy, bowel resections, neurointerventional procedures, and more.
    • Provide care for patients with conditions such as stroke, sepsis, COVID-19, and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
    • Administer and manage a variety of drips including Levophed, dopamine, neosynephrine, epinephrine, vasopressin, nitroglycerin, dobutamine, amiodarone, cardene, cleviprex, and giapreza.
    • Utilize EPIC charting for accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
    • Monitor and assess patients' responses to treatments, interventions, and medications, adjusting care plans as necessary.
    • Educate patients and their families about the care plan, procedures, and treatments to ensure understanding and adherence.

    Qualifications:

    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
    • Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience.
    • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
    • Proficiency in EPIC charting system.
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
    • Commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Experience with trauma management and post-op care for craniotomy, bowel resections, and neuro interventional procedures.
    • Familiarity with managing a wide range of drips and medications commonly used in the ICU.

    Working Conditions:

    • 12-hour night shifts.
    • 36 hours per week.
    • High acuity patient care in a 14-bed ICU.
