The Home Health program at Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Missouri is dedicated to delivering quality care to individuals under the orders of private physicians. Payment options include Medicaid, Medicare, and Private Pay/Insurance. Join our team at this non-profit organization and make a difference in the lives of those in need.
Type Of Work Involved
As a part of our team, you will assess symptoms of diseases and responses to treatment, educate patients and caregivers on self-care practices, address inquiries regarding medication, diet, disease processes, and activity, among others. Your responsibilities will also include administering IV and injectable medications, performing prescribed treatments, offering wound management and ostomy care, supporting patients in regaining independence, and communicating any health changes to the physician.
Type Of Employment
Nurses at VNA are compensated per visit and provided with mileage reimbursement or a company car. You will be expected to participate in monthly and weekly on-call rotations, and be available from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily. Additionally, employees may need to commute distances of 45 miles or more for patient visits.
Training
Join our team and undergo a 30-day training period that includes an overview of policies and procedures. You will also receive computer training to familiarize yourself with the handheld device used for patient visits.
Duties
Your duties will revolve around assessing symptoms, patient education, medication administration, treatment procedures, wound care, ostomy management, promoting independence, and reporting health changes to physicians.
Qualifications- Minimum age of 18 years
- Proficiency in reading, writing, simple mathematics, and following directions
- At least one year of home health or nursing experience and possession of a Missouri nursing license
- Reliable transportation with proof of automobile insurance
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check; registered with Family Care Reg.
- Not listed on the Employee Disqualification List (EDL)
- Completion of a detailed application and submission of at least two credible business references
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
