Head Nurse - Occupational Health jobs in Texas

Head Nurse - Occupational Health directs nursing service activities for occupational health services. Develops and conducts training programs to promote employee safety in the workplace. Being a Head Nurse - Occupational Health conducts regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify any health or safety hazards. Maintains records, investigates accidents and injuries, prepares appropriate reports for OSHA, and ensures compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations. Additionally, Head Nurse - Occupational Health coordinates the procurement, review, and project management of contracts and service agreements with outside vendors. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Occupational Health manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Occupational Health typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     We are looking for experienced Occupational Medicine Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team at our Port Arthur, TX, site. In addition to a rewarding work environment, we offer our professionals competitive salary. These are full-time, temporary positions.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Administers treatment of work-related injuries and evaluates and documents its effectiveness.
    • Provides client education in areas related to safety, first aid, CPR and others as needed.
    • Assures proper maintenance of patients' records.
    • Performs client services related to Occupational Health and Safety protocols.
    • Demonstrates a courteous, caring and understanding attitude towards patients, clients, co-workers, visitors, volunteers, peers and medical providers.
    • Must be well organized, flexible and able to function effectively as part of a cohesive team and independently with little supervision.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, interruption prone environment.
    • Demonstrates creative problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks utilizing limited resources.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Basic computer, clerical, phone etiquette and customer service skills.
    • Direct patient care skills to include, but not limited to: assisting with wound cleansing, dressing and suturing; suture removal; splint application/removal; range of motion treatment; heat and cold therapy; medication administration; and respiratory treatment as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and completion of an accredited nursing certificate program.
    • Valid state RN licensure
    • Prior occupational medicine or emergency room/family practice related work experience preferred.
