Head Nurse - Occupational Health directs nursing service activities for occupational health services. Develops and conducts training programs to promote employee safety in the workplace. Being a Head Nurse - Occupational Health conducts regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify any health or safety hazards. Maintains records, investigates accidents and injuries, prepares appropriate reports for OSHA, and ensures compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations. Additionally, Head Nurse - Occupational Health coordinates the procurement, review, and project management of contracts and service agreements with outside vendors. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Occupational Health manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Occupational Health typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Overview:

    The person in this position administers and coordinates the activities of the Safety & Health Department to ensure responsive medical support for employees in accordance with company and corporate policies and procedures. Individual will be point of contact to ensure medical case management is conducted for worker compensation cases.

    Job Description:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain employee medical records as it pertains to EHS requirements. Initial patient care and follow up. Monitor and manage all employee injuries from minor to serious. Perform all functions associated with medical treatment. Perform drug and alcohol screens. Perform all required employee testing as it pertains to regulatory requirements Communicate with insurance company and provide reports, documentation and follow up per workers compensation. Work with the Workers Compensation Health Service Specialist in the management of all workers compensation claims for the facility. Inventory and order proper supplies for the department. Ensure the medical supplies in proper quantities are always maintained onsite Promote a positive health environment for all associates through bulletin boards, health fairs and other means of employee communication Institute programs to be proactive for employee health. Maintain the OSHA 300 log of injuries and illnesses. Stay current on occupational nursing changes. Conduct Health & Safety training as necessary. Ensure all OTC are properly dated and dispose of those that are outdated. Ensure all items in need of medical waste destruction are properly maintained, contained and disposed of for the facility. Write and manage Purchase Orders through Oracle for the EHS department Ensure all information pertaining to health assessments, testing, office visits, incident investigation etc. are maintained in the EHS Enterprise system.     icate with employee’s doctor appointments or medical treatment as it pertains to work related injuries/illnesses. Conduct facility safety inspections as assigned by the Safety & Health Manager. Conduct in person observations of employee job assignments for work restriction compliance. Participate in team building by spending required time in the production area of the facility.

    II.Education and/or Experience


    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current state licensure
    • 3-5 years of direct experience (preferred)
    • Must be computer literate.

    • Must be able to communicate with all levels of employees and to communicate with the medical community.
