Head Teller ensures the daily operational activities of the teller line are executed with accuracy and fulfill required service standards. Processes and records routine transactions, handles complex or unusual customer transactions, and answers more complex customer inquiries. Being a Head Teller depending on policy, may authorize certain transactions. Assists with teller onboarding, training, and guidance. Additionally, Head Teller is responsible for vault oversight and the daily auditing, reporting, and balancing processes. Oversees each teller's daily reconciliation and assists if needed. Ensures that tellers comply with all operating, regulatory, and security policies and procedures. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Head Teller supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Head Teller typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Reports to: Branch Manager
    Summary: Serves as a lead teller, performs teller duties and provides guidance and assistance to tellers with more complex customer transactions. Also assists with additional teller duties such as vault maintenance. Serves as branch supervisor in the absence of the Branch Manager.
    Essential Duties
    • Receive checking and savings deposits: verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back, and issue receipts of deposit.
    • Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete Hold Notices.
    • Processes customer transactions.
    • Opens new accounts including IRAs and HSAs.
    • Verify endorsement, receive proper identification, and ensure validity.
    • Identify counterfeit currency and fraudulent checks.
    • Handles more complex customer transactions.
    • Responsible for maintaining the branch vault and ATM. Maintains teller line
    • Supervises teller staff in absence of Branch Manager
    • Follow all bank policies and procedures.
    Non-essential Duties

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • The ability to prioritize and make on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions, weighing customer satisfaction issues with Bank exposure to loss or fraud.

    • In-depth knowledge of all bank deposit products and policies
    • Basic knowledge of bank loan, trust, and investment center products
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to work well under pressure
    • Ability to cross sell- in store branches

    • Knowledge of various federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act, Community Reinvestment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Regulation E and teller roles and responsibilities relating to each act.
    Training and Experience:
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Cash handling or sales experience preferred.
    • Prior Customer Service experience.
    Conditions of Employment:
    • Must travel between branches as required.
    • Must pass background check.
