Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. - Bachelor's degree in Health Education, e.g. Community Health Education, Public Health Education or a human services related field.
- NCHEC Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification is required.
- Minimum three (3) years of recent experience in health promotion planning and programming, including obesity & weight management and lifestyle counseling, and knowledge of Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes studies & the National Diabetes Prevention Program.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- This is a government contractor position. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Duties include but not limited to:
The Health Educator provides healthy lifestyle coaching, health awareness, education, and intervention programs to military service members and their families. We seek a passionate professional who is knowledgeable about current health education trends and practices.- Provide health promotion planning & education programming for diabetes prevention, nutrition and weight management.
- Administer assessments, coaching/counseling, and various other health and nutrition programs/activities that meet the needs of the military facility community at large.
- Develop population-based programs targeting high-risk groups and individuals and implementing programs through group & individual counseling and education.
- Provide healthy lifestyle coaching, health awareness, education, and intervention programs.
- Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate all healthcare-to-health (H2H) and Health Promotion (HP) prevention programs and services.
- Other duties.
