Hoist and Winch Operator sets-up and operates a hoisting machinery. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Hoist and Winch Operator may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Hoist and Winch Operator relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Duties and responsibilities:
Must be mechanically and electrically inclined. Proficient in the repair of electric motors and gear boxes or have the capability, and desire to learn complex systems within six months. Candidate shall complete factory training and maintain manufactures certifications.
Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
Process, prepare, and palatize orders for shipment
Sort, organize, inspect, repair, complete service reports, and return equipment to proper storage locations.
Assist unloading and loading customer's orders
Maintain safe work conditions daily by cleaning floors, shelves, tools, work stations, etc.
Wear proper safety equipment and apparel (PPE)
Take corrective action if potential hazards arise so that you and your team are safe from injury and hazards
Communicate efficiently written, verbal, and respectfully with customers, and fellow employees
Ability to follow instructions in an efficient manor
Problem solving and organizational skills
Efficient commutation skills - operating a calculator, counting, addition, subtracting, etc.
Reliable and dependable
Willingness to learn new concepts and ideas
Comfortable with physical labor - lifting objects 10-100 lbs.
Technicians must complete required training which includes:
Industrial Forklift
Fire prevention, lockout tag out, personal protective equipment, blood borne pathogens
Manufactures technical training for hoist
Training for suspended scaffolding equipment
OSHA 10 hr.
Other course may be required as equipment changes.
