The White Horse Tavern 'America's Oldest Tavern' in Historic Newport, Rhode Island, is seeking a full time year round Assistant General Manager to join our experienced team of fine dining professionals.

Candidates should have at least 5 years experience managing a front of the house team. Prior General Manager or Assistant General Manager experience is required, have extensive knowledge of food and wine service, be able to work in an entrepreneurial, team oriented environment. Assistant General Manager will report directly to the General Manager. Candidates should feel comfortable stepping into General Manager role when they are not present or in the building.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to running dinner service, managing reservations and working the host stand, running the shift, ensuring staff are following steps of service, working with the kitchen staff to ensure quality and ticket times, interacting with guests, hiring and training new and current staff, coaching and counseling, scheduling, reconciliation of daily revenues, invoicing and inventory.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
