House Supervisor provides oversight for multiple hospital departments in the absence of unit management. Addresses patient care, staffing, and any other issues that may arise. Being a House Supervisor supervises nurses and staff and takes administrative responsibilities and ensures adequate staffing for the oncoming shift. Handles occurrences during the shift, ensuring appropriate documentation and communication. Additionally, House Supervisor determines the issues to be referred to the Administrator on call. Collaborates with patients, family members and physicians to ensure needs are met and problems are resolved. Typically requires a bachelor's degree of nursing. Typically reports to manager or head of a unit/department. Requires certification as a registered nurse (RN). The House Supervisor manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a House Supervisor typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Coordinates development and implementation of Individual Service Plan for the functional/daily or community living skills needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and/or emotional or behavioral challenges. May provide oversight and coordination of staff.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:
    • Coordinates and provides services for an assigned client caseload in order to fulfill individual services plan, including some or all of the following: skills training, positive behavior supports, activities and daily living, behavioral management, job placement assistance, and daily support services.
    • Acts as a liaison and primary contact person for designated caseload in order to coordinate relationships between clients, family, community agencies, and day/vocational sites.
    • Participates in client skills assessment and the development of service plans in conjunction with the support team, funding source, and corporate and regulatory standards.
    • Prepares and monitors completion of all client services documentation, including staff compliance with documentation requirements in accordance with QA standards of care and regulatory standards.
    • Provides direct supervision of assigned staff while working shifts.
    • Develops and oversees staff schedules to ensure effective coverage of direct care services and emergency needs of a 24 x 7 operation.
    • Provides staff training and informational meetings including state and company-required pre-service and in-service training in order to support the implementation of individual service plans and adherence to company and professional standards. Ensures staff has knowledge of reporting responsibilities for incidents and allegations of ANE.

    • Perform all duties of direct care employees and provide emergency coverage.
    • Responsible for purchasing groceries and home supplies with P-Card.
    • Monitors home-assigned vehicle fuel supply and maintenance needs.
    • Coordinates consumer menu planning.
    • May assist the Program Manager/Director in special projects as needed.
    • Attends and participates in inter/intra-departmental meetings as required.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    May provide oversight and coordination of staff as required.
     
    Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job:

    Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Some College preferred.
    • Two years of experience including supervisory responsibilities in human services roles with relevant client populations.

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
    • Current driver's license.
    • Some states and/or programs may require possession of current certifications as mandated by state licensing regulations and may include some or all of the following including CPR/FA and HIV/AIDS certification, BBP, ACT training, or complete training and certification in the mandated timeframe.
    • Ability to uphold and respect the rights of people with Intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral problems, and traumatic brain injury.
    • Ability to accurately observe and record behavior and individual responses to the program plan and support DSP participation.
    • Ability to contribute and participate in the development of an individual’s plan.
    • Ability to restrain physically aggressive clients.
    • Effective in oral and written communications.
    • Knowledge and skills in effective people management techniques.
