Job Summary
This position provides supervisory nursing care for 24/7 nursing departments by established standards, policies, procedures, licensure, and scope of practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitors and performs bed control and patient placement for the CCU, TU, OB, ER, and MSP units.
- Receives report from the House Supervisor on the census of the units and expected admissions, discharges, and transfer activity.
- Carries the House Supervisor's cell phone and is readily available at all times; immediate member of all response teams including Code Blue Team, Trauma Team, rapid response alert, Fire Alert, and disaster alert.
- Works with staff nurses to complete necessary processes for admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Identify the needs of staff and shows expertise and guidance to other staff members.
- Delegates work assignments; matches the responsibility to the person and sets expectations and monitors delegated activities.
- Exhibits confidence in self and others; inspires and motivates others to perform well, effectively influences actions and opinions of others. Accepts feedback from others.
- Maintains focus on improving and promoting quality.
- Understands the business implications of staffing and works within the approved budget. Demonstrates knowledge of the staffing guidelines for each area.
- Follows policies and procedures, and demonstrates knowledge base of access to information and guidelines.
- Observes safety and security procedures, and reports potentially unsafe conditions. Use equipment and materials properly.

Qualifications
Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse Program. Minimum 3 years clinical experience required.
Holds or is eligible for current licensure in the State of South Dakota.
Required to complete and maintain Mandatory Basic and Advanced Life Support Training per policy.
Required to attend yearly departmental scenarios as assigned, as well as Staff Development skills fair.
