The Department of Housing & Residential Education at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an Associate Director, Student Housing. The anticipated start date is June 17, 2024.

JOB SUMMARY: The Associate Director for Student Housing assists the Director of Housing and Residence Education with the overall administration of the residential program through functional assignments in housing operations and residence education. Functional assignments may periodically change to best meet the needs of the Office of Student Housing and the professional development needs of the incumbent. Functional assignments could include housing administrative operations, residential community engagement, co-curricular programming, and student/staff development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Director for Student Housing supervises the staff responsible for and the strategic planning needed for the execution of their functional assignments. Communication of data, information, and instructions in a clear and concise manner is critical in this role.
The Associate Director will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the housing software (currently THD by Adirondack Solutions), including housing assignments, billing, and financial functions. Further, the Associate Director will work with campus partners in Facilities and Information Technology to maintain residential building access. The Associate Director serves as the primary data custodian for assignment and occupancy data and is responsible for reporting and tracking of this data.
The Associate Director will collaborate with university stakeholders as appropriate, specifically with colleagues in International Student Services, Intercollegiate Athletics, and Facilities Management, amongst others.
The Associate Director will assist the Director for Housing and Residence Education in managing staff recruitment initiatives, staff retention efforts, and recognition. The Associate Director will assist the Director for Housing and Residence Education and the Assistant Director for Residence Education in evaluating and implementing theme/special interest/learning community programs, student staff recruitment and retention, student staff training initiatives, and recognition efforts.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Director for Student Housing serves on the professional staff on-call Tier 2 emergency response team.
The Associate Director manages summer housing operations including but not limited to summer residents, summer camps and conferences, and supervises the summer staff.
The Associate Director serves as Student Conduct Hearing Officer.
The Associate Director assists the Director of Housing and Residence Education with budget formulation and tracking.
The Associate Director assists in the creation of annual reports for the department, division, and university constituents.
The Associate Director will conduct research to ensure alignment with best practice and national standards for departmental processes and procedures, including benchmarking departmental initiatives and programmatic efforts.
The Associate Director serves on Department/Division/University committees as needed. Further, the Associate Director will perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree required. Minimum of five (5) years progressive responsibility and successful experience in student housing or a closely related field. Demonstration of a clear understanding of student development theories and the ability to apply the theories in practical situations. Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a demonstrated strong client service orientation. Demonstrated computer proficiency with standard office applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in student affairs, communications, or business administration. Experience and usage with Adirondack Housing Solutions software. Experience with Advocate conduct software.
