Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Social Worker II for the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center located in Anna, Illinois to administer professional social work services involving the application of social work principles and techniques in the evaluation, problem identification and treatment of adults manifesting complex emotional and psychosocial disorders. Determines and develops sources of information and services to facilitate individual treatment.

Job Responsibilities

• Administers professional social work services involving the application of social work principles and techniques in the evaluation, problem identification and treatment of adults manifesting complex emotional and psychosocial disorders.
• Determines and develops sources of information and services to facilitate individual treatment.
• Develops and implements treatment strategies and conducts treatment/psychoeducational groups, conducts individual and family counseling sessions.
• As part of the treatment team, identifies options for best practice treatment interventions in lieu of restraint/seclusion.
• Evaluates community provider services for future placement based on the needs of the individual.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a master’s degree in social work from a recognized college or university supplemented by one years of professional social work experience in the evaluation and treatment/habilitation of mentally ill, developmentally disabled, or other disabled persons.

Conditions of Employment

• Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
• Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
• Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
• Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
• Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Work Hours: 8:00a-4:30p, Monday-Friday with one late night of 10:30a-7:00p per week.
