  • Granby Public Schools May 20, 2024 Anticipated Opening 2024-2025 school year Summary Assists the Classroom Teacher, Special Education Teacher, and the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in implementing a behavior program for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Emotional Disabilities. Supervision Works under the immediate direction of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Special Education Teacher. Works under the administrative direction of the Director of Pupil Services, Building Principal and Assistant Principal to accomplish the tasks and duties assigned. Setting up assistive technology for student use Participating in training/consultation Reinforcing previously taught concepts in a small group setting Communicating with liaison regarding progress of students Documenting student progress both academically and behaviorally Reinforcing instruction of general education under the direction of a Special Education Teacher Accompanying students to General Education classroom and providing modifications to instruction Ensuring safety of students as they use adaptive equipment Assisting with self-help skills, including but not limited to clothing, feeding, toileting Supporting students at job sites and/or during a variety of community trips Participating in student progress meetings when requested, and provide input for progress reports and objectives; inform appropriate staff of program changes and updates Completing parent communication logs and district documents as required Participating in required professional development, such as restraint training, CPR/First Aid certification, and staff meetings and extended day sessions Demonstrating flexibility when daily schedules change Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum programs and modifications, including but not limited to augmentative communication devices, task analysis, and discrete trial materials Maintaining students’ program books, including but not limited to organizing assessments, documenting programmatic changes, and conducting reinforcement assessments Implementing instructional and behavioral programs as designed by the BCBA Using ABA procedures to conduct and amend student programs and record appropriate data in pull-out and inclusion settings. This includes, but is not limited to, discrete trials, social stories, and social skills training Modeling ABA techniques and provide support for other staff as requested by the BCBA Conducting data collection at all stages of skill acquisition Maintains student specific materials, reinforcers, and programming in a neat and orderly manner Completing other duties that are designated by the Lead Teacher and/or BCBA, Building Principal or Director of Pupil Services Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
