Job Purpose: Coordinate domestic and international shipping. Track shipments; know and adhere to USMCA requirements; provide USMCA reporting and documents; facilitate the movement of freight and prepare and file all related shipping documents. Obtain quotes for most competitive freight costs. Manage documents and work flow in an organized, complete and timely manner.
Qualifications- Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED, some college coursework in business, finance, or accounting is helpful. Three to five years of shipping and logistics experience and office clerical experience, and one year in billing experience preferred.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of office practices and procedures, knowledge of billing and shipping procedures in a manufacturing environment as well as international shipping procedures and requirements. Understanding of tariffs and duties, Schedule B and Harmonized Tariff numbers.
- Skills & Abilities: Computer literate, ability to pay close attention to detail, work under pressure, prioritize each day's work, proficient typist. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, freight companies, suppliers, and internal partners at all organizational levels --- both written and verbal.
- Work with freight companies and freight brokers to competitively quote freight requirements; and facilitate shipments through to completion with correct and complete supporting documentation ensuring compliance with SLI/USMCA and other relevant required documentation depending on freight origin and destination.
- Creates and supports creation of all necessary paperwork including pack lists, bill of ladings, barcode labels & export documents for each day's shipments. Also ensures any necessary inspection reports or special auditing is completed, if required. Preparation of skid, 3rd party and other labels as needed.
- Schedule or support scheduling of standard and expedite shipments to/from/between any UACJ Plant and a customer or supplier. Maintains detailed records pertaining to shipments to customers.
- Provide customers with tracking information and initiates freight claims through to completion.
- Auditing and approval of freight bills working collaboratively with Finance A/P and A/R.
- Maintains current files on various freight companies and ensures that all necessary shipping forms are in stock. Investigates new freight company options to achieve improvement in performance and/or lowered cost.
- May be required to audit loading of trucks on an as needed basis.
- Performs receptionist duties and preparation of various reports as required.
- Additional duties as assigned by manager.
