Industrial Hygienist coordinates, plans and conducts programs to educate employees about cleanliness, safety and sanitation in the workplace. Inspects facilities and work areas to prescribes corrective actions to reduce the health risks. Being an Industrial Hygienist provides advice on methods and procedures to reduce occupational health risks. Determines measures to avoid any recurrence of accidents. Additionally, Industrial Hygienist evaluates facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promotes maintenance of a sanitary working environment. Conducts training in environmental compliance and the handling of hazardous materials. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. The Industrial Hygienist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Industrial Hygienist will provide industrial hygiene support to the Industrial Hygiene Group. Design sampling strategies and parameters.
Industrial Hygienist Responsibilities- Collect, analyze and interpret data for documenting the occupational exposure conditions within an industrial workplace.
- Coordinate efforts to achieve accurate information and to disseminate the information to the client in a timely manner.
- Operating, maintaining, and purchasing all industrial hygiene equipment which includes, but is not limited to the following:
- High and Low Flow Sampling Pumps
- Bellows and Piston Style Pumps
- Noise Dosimeters and Sound Level Meters
- X-ray Fluorescent Meters
- Light Meters, Relative Humidity Meters
- Velometers, etc.
- Determining, implementing, and modify sampling strategies in the field, as needed.
- Compiling data and interpreting information for technical report generation.
- Maintaining communications with clients.
- Providing technical advice to staff and management.
- Preparing proposals with cost estimates for industrial hygiene projects (subject to approval)
- Maintaining "current" regarding regulations and best practices within the industrial hygiene discipline.
- Determine scope of industrial hygiene sampling project through review of client’s operations and client’s goals.
- Produce a quality report within budget in a timely manner.
- An undergraduate degree in an environmental health or science or related field preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Industrial Hygiene and Noise project scoping and report writing required.
- Valid Ohio Driver's License. Must maintain a good driving record and show proof of insurance to meet Company standards.
- 40 Hour OSHA Training (preferred)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry a distance of 25 feet.
