Instructional Technology Specialist supports faculty members utilizing information technology in support of teaching and learning. Develops computer training materials and assists in teaching how to set up and use computer applications and related technologies. Being an Instructional Technology Specialist may troubleshoot technical problems and train junior staff members. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Instructional Technology Specialist typically reports to a manager. The Instructional Technology Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     To provide assistance to classroom teachers/students in the effective integration of technology to improve instruction and academic achievement.

      
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 
     
    Ten (10) month contract (205 days), plus benefit package. NOTE:  Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience.  FLSA: EXEMPT.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Bachelor’s degree (minimum).  Master’s degree preferred.
    2. Valid Arkansas teacher certification.
    3. Classroom teaching experience preferred.
    4. Successful background experiences in educational technology.
    5. Successful experiences in working with both adults and students.
    6. Willingness to conduct inservice training sessions. 
    7. Experience in planning and implementing technology inservice for adults.
    8. Experience in using Microsoft Office applications Mobile Apps desirable.
    9. Experience using GradeQuick, Edline, and/or Spectrum desirable.
    10. Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
     
    The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.
     
    1. Conducts teacher inservice sessions on the use and integration of technology during the school day and after school.  
    2. Coordinates with principal to plan and implement training in the integration of instructional software into the classroom curriculum. 
    3. Assists in planning and implementing upgrades and expansions of current district software such as GradeQuick, Edline, and other approved district software. 
    4. Provides support for teachers using instructional software. 
    5. Models the integration of technology for teachers. 
    6. Responsible for trouble shooting minor computer problems. 
    7. Oversees operation of Instructional Technology learning lab plus computers in all classrooms. 
    8. Explores and investigates emerging technologies. 
    9. Maintains proper documentation. 
    10. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
