Instructor - Architecture teaches courses in the discipline area of architecture. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Architecture provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Architecture typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Deliver curriculum, monitor, and make recommendations as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
    2. Effective management of the classroom and/or laboratory.
    3. Promote and engage in student recruitment, retention and completion goals fostering a culture of professionalism and inclusive learning.
    4. Monitor and assess student learning outcomes and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance.
    5. Participate in advisory and/or institutional committees.
    6. Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field and/or discipline.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THE POSITION

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Related Degree (Architectural, Structural, Mining, Environmental, Construction Management) PLUS at least 2 years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in Civil Engineering
    OR
    • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field PLUS four years (8,000 hours) of occupational experience in Civil Engineering
    OR
    • 7 years (14,000 hours) of occupational experience in Civil Engineering

    * Included in the above experience, at least 2,000 hours of verified occupational experience must be within the last five years OR at least 2 years of full-time (8 semesters of part-time) post-secondary teaching experience in the occupational field within the last five years.*

    OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment.
    • Ability to work with a diverse workforce and student population
    • Ability to use student learning management systems
    • Culturally competent, including strong emotional intelligence and the ability to engage and build relationships with constituents and underrepresented communities.
