Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     Job Description:

    APPOINTMENT: August 17, 2023

    RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will teach a range of computer science courses. This is a teaching position; the teaching load is four courses per-semester with 12 contact hours per week.

    Requirements:

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • A minimum of a Master's degree in computer science or closely related field
    • Prior teaching experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants satisfying the required qualifications are encouraged to apply. Preference may be given to candidates with any or all of the following:
    • a) Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science
    • b) teaching experience in introductory computer science courses, software development, data structures, advanced use of spreadsheet and/or database applications
    • c) relevant industry experience

    For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.

    THE DEPARTMENT: The School of Computer Sciences offers a B.S. and an M.S. in Computer Science, a B.S. in Information Systems at Macomb and Moline, and a B.S. in Cybersecurity. The faculty of 20 members serves approximately 175 undergraduate majors and 400 graduate majors.
