    SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The Emergency Medical Sciences/Paramedic instructor under the direction of the Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences and EMS Program Director, will work with a team to create classroom and clinical learning activities in the Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic Programs.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Plan, prepare, and revise course outlines, instructional objectives, and evaluation tools
    • Continuous review, planning, evaluation of the program for effectiveness and achievement of regulatory board and/or accreditation standards
    • Student advising and EMS (EMT & Paramedic), as well as college committee work will be expected
    • Instructs students in specialized educational programs by lecturing in classroom and laboratory and clinical settings and developing and providing individual instruction as required
    • Interprets policies, programs and procedures related to the delivery of services
    • Seeks, selects and uses resources compatible with student/program needs
    • Implements various strategies or approaches to meet students' needs, including consulting with students, families, and school staff, as needed
    • Assesses and documents attainment of program objectives
    • Performs as the clinical coordinator for all EMS programs, including clinical site visits as directed by program director
    • Serves as primary instructor for EMT program and assists with paramedic program
    • Performs other duties as assigned


    Required skills/abilities:

    • Ability to communicate with written and oral expertise in the English language
    • Ability to promote an effective environment for learning in lecture and lab experiences
    • Ability to teach students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
    • Instruction using classroom and the Learning Management System (LMS). The instructor is expected to actively engage students in lecture and practical application, while effectively using the LMS to enhance the instructional experience
    • Attendance at annual advisory board/department meetings and other meetings as requested by the program director or Dean.
    • Mandatory annual participation in continuing education activities
    • Annual completion of course assessment information


    Education and Experience:

    • Associate degree in Paramedics required, Bachelor degree preferred.
    • Must hold an unencumbered State EMS Instructor license or will obtain.
    • Must meet CAAHEP/CoAEMSP standards.


    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged sitting and standing
    • Extensive walking
    • Prolonged screen time
    • Ability to lift & carry up to 50 lbs
