    The Department of English & Philosophy at MCLA invites applications for Adjunct Instructor of Creative Writing for the 2024-2025 academic year. We are seeking an imaginative and inspiring creative writer with a demonstrated commitment to teaching innovative creative writing courses at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will teach two courses in the Fall 24 semester and two courses in the Spring 25 semester. Writers with a commitment to working with a diverse student population are particularly encouraged to apply.

    Examples of Duties:
    Teach four courses across two semesters, including ENGL 208: Experiments in Creative Writing, an introductory course that exposes first-year students of various majors to both poetry and prose forms, as well as ENGL 230: Creative Writing Fiction, designed for English majors at the intermediate level.
    Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that emphasizes writing craft, formal experiment, and close reading acumen through thoughtful assignments and in-class activities.
    Introduce students to the social practice of working creatively and ethically in a group setting, sharing and responding constructively to each other's drafts.

    Job Requirements:
    Preferred: MFA or PhD in Creative Writing or a related field.
    Record of creative writing publication and engagement in literary community.
    Previous experience teaching creative writing at the undergraduate level.
