    Job Summary

    Arrow Academy of Music is seeking a part-time piano instructor (up to 20 hours a week) who is friendly, confident, and dependable. The instructor will be responsible for teaching small group piano lessons to students in elementary levels and/or in upper levels. Must show compassion and patience while teaching in a professional and enthusiastic manner.

    Paid training will be provided in summer of 2024, so that instructors can begin teaching when the fall lessons begin in late August.

    Arrow Academy of Music Instructors will:

    • Use our proven group lesson curriculum
    • Evaluate and encourage students for consistent progress
    • Work together as a vital member with the whole Arrow team
    • Teach students to read music notes and rhythm
    • Use our proprietary chording curriculum to teach students to play in a band
    • Train students to play by ear and improvise using techniques within the curriculum
    • Teach students to understand music theory and how to compose
    • Play an 88 key, fully weighted digital studio piano for recording and use of many instrument sounds

    • Teaching 55-minute group classes using our proprietary curriculum covering musicianship, theory, technique, and more
    • Preparing students for fun music performances
    • Tracking student progress and communicating effectively with students and parents
    • Fostering a high-energy, positive, and supportive classroom environment
    • Successfully leading teen assistants assigned to help in the classroom
    • Rewarding students’ excellence and effort with credits to our fun in-studio store
    • Collaborating with other instructors and staff in monthly meetings
    • Representing Arrow Academy with professionalism and enthusiasm in the community and the classroom
    • Focusing on music education, keeping personal and political agendas aside (It’s all about the kids and music!)

    Requirements to be an Arrow Academy Of Music Instructor:

    • Willingness to learn to teach piano in a group setting
    • The ability to create positive rapport with students
    • A high level of personal musicianship and piano competence
    • Ability to communicate instrumental techniques and concepts to students
    • Relevant teaching experience
    • Personable, collaborative nature and ability to work with administration and families
    • Willingness to substitute for other instructors as needed and schedule allows
    • Our lesson plans are proprietary, therefore we ask our teachers to sign a non-compete contract before hiring

    Preferred but not required:

    • Bachelor’s Degree with major or minor in music, or working toward degree
    • 2 years teaching experience with piano

    Arrow Academy of Music Responsibilities:

    • Arrow Academy of Music will provide teachers with training and any necessary materials and equipment
    • Classes will be formed and scheduled by Arrow Academy according to teacher availability. Lesson times are consistent and do not change once established
    • All publicity, performances, studio administration, student incentives, billing, and collection will be handled by Arrow Academy
    • Pay is by each class taught. Incremental raises upon review. Payroll is once a month

    Compensation:

    $30 - $40 per class taught depending on your experience and Teacher Tier for which you qualify (Tiers are based on education and expertise)

    $20 per hour training rate before classes begin

    One (1) paid day off per teaching day per semester , for holiday, illness or weather cancellation

    Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

    • Piano classroom setting. Standing/Walking 80%. Sitting and moving from student to student 20%
    • Moderate to moderately-high noise levels from class piano playing

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
