Instructor - Special Education teaches courses in the discipline area of special education. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Special Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Soliant has an opening for a special education paraprofessional for the 2024-2025 school year that involves working with students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
We offer weekly pay, guaranteed hours, and full benefits (including healthcare and 401k contributions) with all of our full-time positions!
What You'll Do :
- Provide instructional support and assistance to students with special needs
- Assist students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, math, and other subject areas, under the direction of teachers.
- Implement behavior management strategies and support students in developing appropriate social skills.
- Assist with the implementation of accommodations and modifications outlined in students' IEPs.
- Provide support during small group instruction and individualized instruction as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists,and other staff members to ensure the success and inclusion of students with special needs.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Alaska paraprofessional certification or at least 2 years of credit toward a college degree required
- At least one year of experience as a paraprofessional preferred
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
