Interventional Radiological Technologist assists physicians in interventional procedures and provides diagnostic aid by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosage in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being an Interventional Radiological Technologist observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree, at least 2 years of experience in radiology and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Additionally, Interventional Radiological Technologist typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Interventional Radiological Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. If you are a fully qualified IR Tech or have two or more years of Rad Tech experience, we are here to support you in enhancing your skills through ongoing training in our IR program. Our IR Tech will perform procedures on patients of all ages according to approved protocols, radiation safety and established exam indicators. Schedules and obtains history from patients. Evaluates the appropriateness of requested exams to assist radiologists. The Interventional Rad Tech maintains knowledge of equipment and instruments/supplies pertinent to high quality exams. Provides effective internal and external patient communication consistent with age and mental capacity. Some travel between Saint Alphonsus Health System locations expected. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS). Certification in Cardiovascular (CV) preferred. One year of subspecialty or general radiology experience preferred. Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS or as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
