Assistant Financial Director - Investor Relations

    Investor Relations has an exciting opportunity and is looking to hire an Assistant Financial Director.  The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of financial markets, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in investor relations.  This is a great opportunity to lead and contribute in our investor relations initiatives and drive the continued success and growth of Principal!

     Key aspects of the role include:

    • Develop and implement an effective investor relations strategy to enhance Principal’s reputation and credibility among investors, analysts, and the financial industry.
    • Collaborate with the corporative leadership team to develop financial messaging and ensure consistent and accurate communication of Principal’s financial results and growth prospects to the investment community.
    • Conduct thorough financial analysis and research to pinpoint trends and variations promptly, providing valuable insights for investor relations and aiding decision-making processes.  Offer recommendations as needed to optimize investor relations strategies.
    • Lead projects that could involve coordination of several business areas.

    Who You Are

    • Bachelor's degree in math, actuarial science, finance or related field preferred.
    • 6 years of relevant experience.
    • Strong management and organizational skills including the ability to select, train, coach, develop and motivate team members
    • Skilled in collaborating with a variety of partners, including leadership, institutional investors, individual shareholders, and equity analysts with ability to influence others 
    • Strong skills in communicating with all levels of the organization and easily translating complex topics for others to understand
    • Demonstrates the ability to embrace and understand the change process, and effectively guides others through change
    • Travel is not required but there could be opportunities to travel, if desired.

    Salary Range Information

    Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
    Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

    $123000 - $185000 / year
    Time Off Program

    Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

    Work Environments

    This role offers in-office, and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangements in our Des Moines, IA office. You’ll work with your leader to determine what option may align best based on several factors.
