Laboratory Manager jobs in Nebraska
Laboratory Manager manages the daily activities of the laboratory. Develops laboratory policies and procedures and issues updates as needed. Being a Laboratory Manager plans and designs experiments. Estimates the time and resources needed to complete projects. Additionally, Laboratory Manager orders and inspects materials and equipment and maintains detailed and accurate inventory of lab supplies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Laboratory Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Laboratory Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. What You Will Do as a Laboratory Manager:
- Schedule production runs for maximized throughput and quality
- Hire, train, motivate, coach and develop staff for growth and lab skills
- Maintain equipment, records, inventory and SOPs
- Troubleshoot vaccine production complications and execute resolutions
Requirements of a Laboratory Manager:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in related field (Biology, Chemistry, Animal Science, etc)
- 3-5 years’ experience minimum in Virus Production Laboratory Management
- Virus production required; Animal virus production experience highly preferred
- Ability to lift 50lbs to shoulder, maneuver up to 110lbs with mechanical aid
- Familiar with and ability to adhere to USDA regulations
