Lean Manufacturing Specialist, Sr. jobs in Maine

Summary

• The Lean Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for implementing and maintaining lean production systems and principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Will help develop frameworks and effective ways of working in which our organization can build in the coming years. Will also ensure a fully integrated continuous improvement culture into the company and develop it further, through LEAN expertise and skills. The Lean Manufacturing Manager will achieve customer satisfaction, employee happiness and company (financial) effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain operational excellence standards across the organization.
• Drive continuous improvement mindset (e.g. through training).
• Assist with production planning.
• Works 50% of the time in processing areas and 50% of the time in an office setting.
• Develop an understanding of processing machinery to have ability to make adjustments when necessary.
• Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance the company’s internal capacity.
• Drive improvements based on benchmarking with internal and external best practices.
• Initiate continuous improvements and project leading on an operational level.
• Monitor, compile, and report data on OEE including productivity, product yields, factory scans, time studies and improvements to slicing optimization.
• Execute and educate on process improvement initiatives using Factory Scan and Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Act as operational excellence in cross-functional project teams and management.
• Co-pilot for team members in project work, helping them understand and utilize change management tools.
• Support efficiency improvement by establishing a solid foundation and implementing a standard way of working to sustain performance.
• Works closely with senior management team.
• Seeks continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience in food processing or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of seafood processing preferred.
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• Lean Manufacturing principles knowledge.
• Project management experience.
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Extremely detail oriented with good organizational/prioritization skills.
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written, including the ability to document processes, procedures, policies and create reports.
• Ability to actively listen and to accept criticism.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business with food science and/or manufacturing experience.
