Key technologies: Proficiency in Microsoft products – word, excel, powerpoint. There are other internal systems that will need to be learned – Archer, Oracle, LegalEase, IManage.
Nice to haves: We want legal firm/dept experience as an administrative assistant/legal secty. Person who is leaving the position was an internal hire and the learning curve was steeper. We have received a few resumes from candidates who seemed overqualified – their recent experience has focused on other fields. This person would have opportunity to advance (i.e. we have had admin assistants with the skills and desire to move into other positions or paralegal work) but key parts of the job include scheduling meetings, maintaining the attorneys’ calendars, finalizing correspondence and power-points. Nice to have is past experience working on budgets. Person who’s leaving is skilled in Microsoft excel and helping to create and maintain documentation related to the law dept. budget.
Interview process: Screening with HR; initial interview virtual with at least 2 lawyers and at least 1 of the other current admin assistants in the department. Possible second level interview in person with other lawyers/paralegals.

Our team meets in the office at least once per week, at other times for special events, and the employee may occasionally need to come into the office at other times for one-time projects.
