Position Information Position Title Assistant Librarian (On Site - University Center, MI) Employee Group Administrative / Professional Division / Department Library Status Part-time, 24 hrs / week, 45 weeks / year

Starting Salary $22.89 $25.40 per hour : Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience

Position Summary Information Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion in students, faculty and staff.

POSITION SUMMARY :

Assist librarians in duties including reference, instruction, and collection development. Work with other library staff on circulation and interlibrary loan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING :

• Staff the reference desk and support students / faculty / staff with research / technology issues face-to-face and via chat, phone, and email.
• Assist librarians in planning, developing, and conducting library instruction.
• Assist librarians with collection development.
• Promote information literacy
• Support staffing the Centers
• Represent the library on assigned campus committees.
• Help to create and maintain Research Guides for courses, programs, and displays
• Assist library staff with outreach measures
• Participate and learn new skills and library trends through professional development
• Assist with Open Educational Resources

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited program required within one year of hire.
• 0-3 years of position related experience.
