Library Services Manager manages the daily planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Library Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Library Services Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     As a building services worker, you will enhance the customer experience by providing a superior level of cleaning quality and maintaining the library in like-new condition through excellent housekeeping practices. You understand that safety is our top priority and assist in providing a safe and secure environment for the Library visitors, volunteers, and staff. This also includes assisting in de-escalating negative situations as part of the security team.

    You offer support to the Events Team in the tasks such as welcoming clients, Tables, chairs and room set up, tablecloths and trash set up and removal. You will handle a variety of tasks related to a vibrant and active event process with many events per year (100 ). You will assist with a diverse range of tasks necessary for event execution.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Effectively communicate with patrons regarding a variety of topics including, but not limited to: library products, programs and services, policies, responsibilities, and code of conduct. Blend creativity, problem solving, and decision making to positively impact the customer experience, de-escalate any negative situations and resolve customer questions and concerns.
    2. Ask open ended questions to assess, understand, and ascertain customer needs, determine how to tailor your approach, and provide recommendations using your institutional knowledge to connect our customer with the right solution. This includes both routine and complex patron inquiries.
    3. Perform assigned daily cleaning procedures within time limits and in accordance with FPL policy in designated areas.
    4. Clean all public and staff bathrooms, restock supplies, empty the trash, and prepare for opening.
    5. Sweep and mop all hard surface floors, auto scrub and buff terrazzo, clean conveyor hallway.
    6. Vacuum all soft surface floors, computers, card catalog, and upholstery.
    7. Clean and/or polish all stainless-steel including elevators, stairways, glass, doors, wood surfaces and security gates.
    8. Take out any recyclables, pick up stray trash in parking deck, empty all parking-deck trash cans, and clean cans as needed.
    9. Help keep the library a "green" building by using only approved, "green" products.
    10. Collect all library refuse keeping trash separate from recyclables.
    11. Demonstrate knowledge of safety equipment and procedures. Carry out job responsibilities in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury to yourself, other staff, vendors, customers, and the Library. Maintain all equipment in like-new condition.
    12. Complete any laundry.
    13. Respond to staff housekeeping requests as appropriate.
    14. Assist with a diverse range of tasks necessary for event execution. Examples could include: event set-up, event tear-down, assist with the flow of event (traffic, parking, flow of people, signage, interior movement of people), secure the entrances and exits for specific events, guide volunteers and outside vendors (service staff and bartenders), assist with decorations (table settings, linens, and other rental items).
    15. Help orient new staff, ensuring a smooth acclimation to the library and our culture. Train staff members as assigned. Monitor volunteers on special projects as needed. Report training issues to Building Services Manager.
    16. Monitor library physical security. Report safety and security issues to the manager. Prepare accurate and detailed incident reports as assigned.
    17. Display excellent time management skills, attention to detail, problem solving skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to work proactively to balance multiple tasks and prioritize work. Complete work at an appropriate pace with a sense of urgency. Seek out areas that require cleaning and take initiative to complete tasks.
    18. Collaborate with supervisor on departmental projects to ensure the smooth operation of the department. Conduct special projects as assigned.
    19. Protect library assets and ensure building security by monitoring security gates, adhering to library policies, and following appropriate closing procedures.
    20. Model and support library brand at all times. Participate in meetings and activities of the department and library. Assist with library services, programs, events, and outreach opportunities as needed.
    21. Assist in safety and security planning and implementation. Carry out emergency procedures.
    22. Perform landscaping jobs as needed i.e. weeding, watering, sprinkler system maintenance, etc.
    23. Assume personal responsibility for the building's condition and solve minor issues and problems as they arise.
    24. Report to work punctually, dressed in approved uniform, and fully prepared for each scheduled shift.
    25. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    All library positions require customer-focused service to both internal and external customers, flexibility, teamwork, punctual and regular attendance, and compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws. 

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school or GED, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Formal training in custodial related field is a plus.
    2. Intermediate language skills including the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
    3. Must have ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to read and understand simple instructions, simple correspondence, notes, letters and memos.
    4. Basic mathematical skills including the ability to add and subtract, and to measure weights and volumes such as fluid ounces, gallons, and pounds.
    5. Basic reasoning skills including the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions, ability to plan and prioritize short-term and long-term tasks, and ability to problem solve.
    6. Minimum computer skills including the ability to send and receive e-mail and give reports and updates via e- mail.
    7. Intermediate mechanical skills including the ability to operate power tools independently and under supervision, ability to help maintain library facilities and equipment, and ability to troubleshoot.
    8. Basic customer service skills including the ability to interact with external customers using exemplary customer service skills.
    9. Must be able to handle/interact with all chemicals used (i.e. bleach, wax, etc).

    Other Skills and Abilities:

    1. Ability to work a flexible schedule as assigned that includes evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts is required.
    2. Perform both independently and as an effective and valued team member.
    3. Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
    4. Work under pressure on multiple projects with frequent interruptions and tight deadlines.
    5. Must be able to appropriately handle sensitive information.
    6. Ability to learn and carry out emergency procedures.
    7. Multilingual skills a plus. 

    Work Environment:

    Ability to consistently tolerate an office environment with typical HVAC performance, ability to function well with the noise level typically associated with an office environment. Must be able to occasionally tolerate some loud noise from large equipment such as cleaning machines, HVAC, power washers, drills, leaf blowers, etc.
