JOB FUNCTIONS
A. PATIENT CARE
Collects data from patient, family or significant others and records on Initial Data Base form. Twenty-four hour nursing assessment and provides data to RN for MDS inclusion.
Contributes to the formulation and updating of plan of care and implements plan of care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
Gives direct nursing care to assigned patients (e.g., medications, treatments, dressing changes, resident care, TPR) according to established standards.
Recognizes changes in patient condition and responds appropriately, notifying charge nurse as needed.
Documents pertinent information regarding patient's responses and nursing interventions in patient's medical record.
Administers medication according to hospital policies; understands and monitors age specific data including meds, lab/diagnostic results, etc.
B. PATIENT CARE RELATED DUTIES
Applies principles of infection control and safety in the performance of patient care.
Communicates effectively with charge nurse and other member of the health care team regarding patient's needs and/or changes in condition.
Responds appropriately in crisis situation; able to prioritize.
Reports significant unit problems to the charge nurse.
Demonstrates understanding and complies with all regulatory agencies; ability to assume charge in the absence of an charge nurse.
Patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served and complies with Bill of Rights.
Participates in patient teaching and nursing research activities (CQI).
Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations
