    Overview

    Working with a moderate degree of independence, the Linux Administrator will configure, install, and monitor virtual and physical servers, perform upgrades to Linux Operating Systems, diagnose and fix hardware and software problems, and install/ support scientific application programs, scientific databases, programming languages, and tools. The Linux Administrator will be responsible for the following duties:

    Responsibilities

    - Installing and troubleshooting Linux operating systems
    - Installing and troubleshooting desktop and server hardware
    - Maintaining infrastructure requirements for servers, routers, switches, and firewalls
    - Monitoring and troubleshooting network issues
    - Provisioning and monitoring network storage systems
    - Patching systems to address known security vulnerabilities
    - Monitoring and identifying system security anomalies
    - Troubleshooting issues and providing customer support

    Requirements

    - Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience and appropriate technical certifications
    - Five years of experience in Linux System Administration and/or High-Performance Computing (HPC).
    - Must meet all requirements for obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust Clearance

    Qualifications

    - Familiarity with one or more scientific software applications and scripting languages
    - Familiarity with Lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP)
    - Experience with Virtualization and Containers
    - Knowledge of CIS Baseline configurations
    - Experience with log analysis tools such as Splunk
    - Knowledge of Federal Information Security regulations and Vulnerability management techniques and tools such as Tenable and NetSparker
