Being a Locksmith may install or maintain emergency exit systems and electronic access equipment and devices. May design new key or lock systems for an organization. Additionally, Locksmith maintains a thorough records of changes and additions to an organization's key systems. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Locksmith works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Job Summary

Maintains the base master keys systems and key and core inventory database.
Responsibilities Include The Following. Other Duties May Be Assigned.- Installs, repairs, rebuilds, and services mechanical or electrical locking devices, using hand tools and special equipment.
- Disassembles locks, such as padlocks, and door locks, repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
- Inserts new or repaired tumblers into locks to change combinations.
- Cuts new or duplicate keys using key cutting machine and stamps with identification.
- Pick locks open when keys are not available.
- Keeps records of company locks and keys.
- Maintains the base master keys systems and key and core inventory database.
- Installs, services, and repairs various types of locks and security devices.
Applicant must possess a Secret Security Clearance or be able to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance until a Secret Security Clearance has been granted. Applicant should be familiar with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards and manufacturers recommendations. Applicant must have one (1) year experience in repair and installation of locking devices and be certified or be able to become certified IAW DOD 5200.1-R, paragraph 3-400.
Physical Requirements
In an 8-hour day, must be able to continually bend, squat, kneel, lift, twist, climb, reach, stand and walk; to use hands for repetitive pushing, pulling, and single grasp motion; and to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and to move objects in excess of 50 pounds, and travel by company vehicle to work location or to other destinations as required.
Additional Requirements
Must have a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record. Ability to read and write English. Must be able to pass a company background check. Must be able to obtain access to Fort Huachuca, AZ. Pre-employment drug test.
