Locomotive Engineer jobs in Alabama

R.J. Corman Railroad is seeking a certified Locomotive Conductor / Engineer in Childersburg, AL. This role will coordinate with switch engine crews to facilitate trains in an industrial plant.

**Previous Locomotive Conductor experience REQUIRED**

Responsibilities: 

• Ensure compliance with all train orders, signals, and railroad rules and regulations for safe operations
• Receive and transmit information by radio and telephone 
• Perform locomotive inspections daily
• Read and understand bulletins, work orders, and switch lists 
• Work with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars 
• Wear protective equipment including hearing protection, safety-toe boots, and safety glasses 
• Work hours includes 12-hour workday, and rotating shifts, (night, weekend, Holidays etc.) 
• Must be okay with working outside in all weather conditions
• Complete annual training and pass safety operating rules examination

Physical Requirements:  

• Able to perform physically strenuous work 
• Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner 
• Requires frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching 
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80lbs
• Able to push and pull with up to 150lbs of force 
• Able to pass hearing and vision evaluation 

Environmental Conditions: Work is performed outside in varying types of environmental conditions 

Must be able to pass drug screen, background, and physical capacity test.
