Logistics Director manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Director oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Director ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Logistics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. - Implementing cutting-edge logistics strategies and technologies to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall performance. This could involve implementing new software systems, streamlining processes, or integrating new transportation methods.
- Determining the best course of action for logistical challenges, leveraging data-driven insights and your industry expertise to make informed decisions. Whether it's route optimization, inventory management, or supplier selection, your decisions will drive the success of the operation.
- Supporting various stakeholders across the organization, ensuring seamless coordination between different departments such as procurement, warehousing, and distribution. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining smooth operations and addressing any issues that may arise.
- Identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships with key suppliers, carriers, and service providers. By establishing strong relationships, you can negotiate favorable terms, secure reliable services, and stay ahead of market trends. These partnerships will not only optimize costs but also enhance the flexibility and resilience of the supply chain, enabling the organization to adapt to changing business needs and market dynamics more effectively.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field AND 10 years of job-related experience
In addition to the above requirements, the following are also required:- Familiarity with logistics and supply chain management software systems
- Knowledge of local, national, and international regulations governing logistics operations, including transportation regulations, import/export laws, customs procedures, and environmental regulations
- Ability to identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, such as supply chain disruptions, transportation delays, inventory shortages, and security threats
- Commitment to continuous improvement and a mindset of innovation to identify opportunities for enhancing logistics processes, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency
- Experience in project management methodologies and practices for planning, executing, and monitoring logistics projects and initiatives
- Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Skills include the following:
- Ability to inspire and motivate teams, delegate effectively, and lead by example
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Adept at identifying challenges, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions
- Flexibility to adjust strategies and tactics in response to changing market conditions, customer needs, and unforeseen disruptions
- Skilled in building relationships and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals
- Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN or closest facility at least 1 - 3 days per week)

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $222,044 - $271,387, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
