    Valero Energy is looking for a highly motivated leader to join our team as a Manager Loss Control at the Meraux refinery. The Loss Control Manager will supervise the Loss Control aspects and support the Valero terminals and associated distribution systems within the Meraux area. Responsibilities may include:

    • Manages all refinery Loss Control aspects to include: proactive activities to ensure quality and quantity of feedstock and product volumes, protect Valero’s interest in all aspects of volume movements and reduction of vessel demurrage and provide immediate resolution of measurement deficiencies to prevent potential claims.
    • Evaluates and reviews industry developments in the aspects of measuring and transporting petroleum to minimize the Company's exposure to volume losses, measurement claims, and excess demurrage.
    • Interprets company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations. Evaluate and assign employee roles and responsibilities.
    • Develops and implements strategies to motivate employees toward achievement of group initiatives.
    • Selects, directs, and audits petroleum inspection companies to ensure competent services are conducted according to the Valero “Inspector Services Agreement”.
    • Works with refinery groups on aspects of maintenance, scheduling, and design of equipment which affects custody transfers and custody measurements. Recommend and initiate procedures related to custody transfers which meet initiatives of Valero and industry best practice.
    • Initiates and resolves quantity or quality claims by direct communication with industry counterparts
    • Reviews documentation of custody transfers for purposes of claim initiation/mitigation, demurrage claims, and measurement requirements of government and local agencies.
    • Ensures that metering systems in area of responsibility are proven, witnessed and calibrated on the required frequency and that discrepancies are communicated promptly.
    • Witnesses custody meter proving and meter prover calibrations. Initiates/implements actions to ensure proper meter factors are determined and properly applied in the final calculation of volumes.
    • Initiates, records and reports departmental cost savings.

    This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • 10 years of experience in the following areas required: Oil movements, laboratory, terminal, and/or marine operations.
    • 5 years of direct experience and exposure in the field and office to all phases of product transfers and claims required.
    • 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
    • Experience creating reports and using formulas in Microsoft Excel preferred.
    • Able and willing to lift 50 pounds of occasionally and 20 pounds of force frequently required.
    • Able and willing to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays, as needed, required.
    • Currently possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within specified timeframe required.
