    Machining Supervisor

    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Machining Supervisor is an experienced machinist (level III) who oversees the machine shop. He/She is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the machining department. The Machining Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the machining team has adequate support to be successful.

    TASKS AND DUTIES

    • Daily Production Schedule: Assign work to department machinists and verify the tasks get done in a timely manner.
    • Rigging: assist with material handling, machine load/unload, champion and verify rigging safety protocols
    • Materials: Ensure raw materials/WIP and job documentation are available.
    • Blueprints: assist with the interpretation of 2D blueprints/3D CAD models and tolerancing
    • Cutting Tools: Help select and organize cutting tools, work with purchasing and receiving to ensure adequate tools are available for the jobs when starting. Monitor tool performance.
    • Fixturing: assist with job setup and use of work holding fixtures
    • CNC Programs: work with engineering/programming and machinists to ensure programs are available at the machine. Support machinists with CNC program management (updates, saving, feedback, etc.).
    • Machining: Help machinist start or finish jobs, help tend machines as needed
    • Deburring: ensure parts are adequately deburred on machine or manually
    • In-process QC: monitor product quality and support team with in-process quality checks
    • Travelers: ensure travelers are correctly completed, work instructions are followed, clocking is done
    • Equipment Maintenance: Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required. Perform simple maintenance and repair as required. Manage auxiliary flows to the machines such as chip evacuation, coolant management, filters, way oil, etc.
    • Training: Train machinists as needed and support cross-training
    • Mentor Employees: Listen and support team members
    • Communication: Communicate issues and needs to appropriate management. Support other departments as needed.
    • QMS: Support M&F’s quality policy and Quality Management System.
    • Safety: Support M&F’s safety policy

    EDUCATION/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

    • 5 years’ experience as a machinist or equivalent technical background
    • proficiency in manual and CNC machining, fluent in G-code
    • experience machining materials: steel, hard metals, aluminum, weldments
    • solid understanding of fabrication techniques, primarily welding

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Safety glasses and steel-toed shoes are required in production areas.

    SUGGESTED DAILY SCHEDULE
    This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Coordinate with Production Manager & 2nd shift leads to adequately support 2nd shift. Schedule can be adjusted with management approval. Overtime may be required occasionally.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
