MACHINIST SHOP ASSISTANT

The Machine Shop Assistant assists the shop manager in achieving production, quality, housekeeping, and safety goals. The job description entails coordinating activities of production employees in achieving the production of quality products at standard output rates, and to meet production goals. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Promotes safety awareness and complies with all applicable safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintain current knowledge of safety standards.
• Provides general assistance around the shop, including administrative and technical tasks.
• Assist with shop loading and work kit preparation.
• Clean and maintain equipment as directed.
• Operate equipment such as CNC routers, horizontal & vertical mills, buffers, routers, general hand and power tools.
• Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and organized. Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Share knowledge & best practice across the company.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Prior metal shop, machine operator experience desired.
• Aptitude for mechanics.
• Capacity to analyze a situation and prioritize tasks
• Strong communication skills.
• Must have reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license
• Positive attitude, dependable.
• Task oriented and enjoys getting things done quickly and efficiently
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Must be flexible when priorities change throughout the day or week.
• Must be able to get along with others and be able to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.

Must be able to pass background and drug test

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
