Mammography Technologist operates specialized X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures including screenings and diagnostic studies. Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Being a Mammography Technologist creates and maintains patient records and files according to required procedure. Cleans and adjusts equipment as needed. Additionally, Mammography Technologist requires an associate degree or completion of a formal radiologic technology training program. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Diagnostic Mammography. Mammography Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. JOB SUMMARY
Utilizes skills to perform professional duties to apply x-ray modalities for the screening and diagnosis of breast disease as well as dual photon xray absorptiometry (DXA) bone mineral density imaging while being responsive and attentive to the individual needs of each patient.
Education
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Two-year college (Associates Degree)
Licensure: A.R.R.T certified in radiography & State of Maine in radiologic technology
Certification: Advanced certification mammography and preferred bone densitometry A.R.R.T
Registrations: A.R.R.T radiography, mammography, and preferred bone density
Experience
1-3 years of experience
