Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Being a Mammography Technologist creates and maintains patient records and files according to required procedure. Cleans and adjusts equipment as needed. Additionally, Mammography Technologist requires an associate degree or completion of a formal radiologic technology training program. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Diagnostic Mammography. Mammography Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Key Responsibilities- Imaging Expertise: Perform a wide range of mammography examinations, including screening and diagnostic mammograms, utilizing your knowledge and judgment to tailor the technique to individual patient needs.
- Patient Care: Provide compassionate care to patients throughout the imaging process, ensuring their comfort, privacy, and understanding of the procedure.
- Technical Proficiency: Operate sophisticated mammography equipment with precision and accuracy, adhering to radiation safety principles (ALARA) to minimize exposure.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to interpret imaging results and contribute to accurate diagnoses.
- Required:
- Education to meet certification, license, or registration requirements.
- Oregon Radiographer License upon hire.
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association certification upon hire.
- National Registered Technologist - Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification upon hire.
- National Registered Technologist - Mammography (ARRT-M) certification within 6 months (180 days) of hire.
