Manufacturing Manager plans, schedules, and manages one or more manufacturing production processes. Incorporates organization-wide operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs into manufacturing processes. Being a Manufacturing Manager monitors production metrics, responds to and resolves problems. Assists with planning and directing an efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials. Additionally, Manufacturing Manager collaborates with leaders to manage and resolve workforce or labor issues and develop solutions. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Manufacturing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Member of the location leadership team. Directly responsible for the overall management of Production Operations including all aspects of the current operation and future planning to assure acceptable safety, quality, performance and fiscal requirements achieved. Develop and assist in the development of direct reports and peers to achieve desired results. Indirect responsibility for all department employees to ensure proper orientations, training, development, compensation and working conditions are met. Assist in the identification and development of plant structure that will support business objectives. Participate with management team members in training efforts, succession planning and developmental opportunities of staff.

    KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for Production and Scheduling functions and all associated personnel.
    • Responsible for Production Department and Scheduling Department operating budget. Manages and controls expenditures and variances.
    • Responsible for planning production operations by establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
    • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
    • Observes and coaches supervisors on personnel, staffing and related issues.
    • Ensures plant staff enforces Company policies and procedures, plant wide safety rules and employee rules of conduct.
    • Responsible for: developing people; improving processes; reducing costs; quality monitoring and improvements; new product development and implementation; superior customer service; and on-time delivery.
    • Reviews activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revises objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
    • Incorporates Milgard’s vision and values into day-to-day activities and behaviors; guides and motivates others to remain committed to the Milgard philosophy.
    • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, terminating, disciplining and coaching employees.
    • Able to motivate employees to achieve results. Must be an effective communicator, capable of teaching and generating results while enhancing the Milgard work environment and supporting the Company philosophy.
    • Participates in the Leadership Development Program for the location.
    • Creates and executes MPS objectives, meeting MPS commitments and working within the guidelines of MPS; reflects Milgard business values and the Milgard philosophy in all business interactions.
    • Incorporates Milgard’s vision and values into day-to-day activities and behaviors; guides and motivates others to remain committed to the Milgard philosophy.
    • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures related to all facets of the job.

    LEVEL OF SUPERVISION:

    • Supervises Production Supervisors and Scheduling Department either directly or through the respective department head.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • 5 to 10 years production manufacturing experience required
    • Window and/or door industry or other manufacturing experience preferred

    EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING:

    • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering or management related field

    • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
    • Must possess ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry and an ability to improve processes.
    • Must be results oriented with a people development affinity; proactive in attacking challenges and confident in setting and achieving stretch goals.
    • Must be able to teach and generate results while enhancing the Milgard work environment and supporting the company philosophy.
    • Must have proven employee development and team building skills.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Prolonged standing and repetitive motions, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling
    • May be required to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. depending on the job
    • Hand dexterity and strength
    • Prolonged sitting and terminal use
