Summary

As the Materials Planner based at our recently overhauled manufacturing campus in Charlotte, MI, you will be accountable for overseeing the procurement of production parts and schedules, tracking supplier delivery performance, and maintaining inventory control for our Blue Arc™ EV Solutions division.

Your role as Materials Planner will also involve utilizing established processes such as demand forecasting, inventory and supplier management, material requirement planning, and continuous improvement to ensure the optimal flow of materials from the supplier’s facility through delivery.

Moreover, you will be responsible for ensuring that we have an adequate supply of materials flowing throughout our operations and for directing the activities of the production materials flow and inventory control functions. What you’ll be doing

• Managing assigned parts and their respective suppliers, including all problem resolutions
• Developing suppliers to ensure improved delivery performance and inventory control
• Coordinating engineering changes and building schedules with suppliers and production
• Maximizing customer satisfaction while minimizing surpluses
• Examining MRP on a daily and weekly basis to produce supplier releases
• Launching, scheduling, deferring, expediting, and canceling purchase orders to maintain inventory levels
• Monitoring and updating supplier lead times for system accuracy
• Ensuring that suppliers receive reports and understand expectations for delivery times and materials quantities
• Proactively confirming delivery and schedules against purchase orders and adjusting when necessary
• Collecting shortage reports and tracking firm delivery schedules
• Obtaining realistic delivery dates on shortages and following up as appropriate and identifying the root causes behind missed deliveries
• Identifying parts shortages in advance and implementing actions to mitigate the risk of disrupting production
• Assisting with packaging projects by implementing returnable packaging programs
• Monitoring and managing freight and logistics costs
• Processing material requisitions from internal personnel for materials, repair of parts, equipment, and special engineering projects
• Contributing to inventory accuracy and reduction efforts, utilizing VMI, Kanban cards, or Min/Max systems
• Partnering with Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and the vendor(s) to identify and implement the appropriate inventory levels, minimum order requirements, economic order quantities, delivery offsets, and supplier lead times

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or business, or equivalent materials planning experience in the manufacturing sector
• 3 or more years of material planning expertise in a manufacturing setting
• A track record of constructing and guiding cross-functional teams
• A reputation for being versatile, flexible, and attentive to detail within constantly changing priorities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• History of effectively handling multiple projects and delivering on time
