Materials Planning Manager jobs in Alabama
The Materials Planning Manager provides support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Manages the materials and inventory planning functions. Being a Materials Planning Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Interfaces with product line coordinators on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments. In addition, Materials Planning Manager typically reports to a Head of a Unit/Department. The Materials Planning Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Working as a Materials Planning Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…- Oversees the purchasing, production, scheduling, inventory and warehousing of materials.
- Monitors plant inventories and purchasing activities partnering closely with operations to avoid production delays.
- Provides direction and guidance to the purchasing team and warehouse.
- Interviews vendors and visits supplier distribution centers and plants to learn about prices, products, and services.
- Negotiates contracts for the site and works out agreements with suppliers for product delivery.
- Performs analysis of price proposals and other information to determine reasonable pricing.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as supply chain, etc. ispreferred.
- May consider applicants without a degree if experience demonstrates progressive growth in complexity andaccountability.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee will occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Your Professional Experience Should Be…- 6 years of experience as a materials professional in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory experience is required.
- Experience must include working with an MRP system, JDE, strongly preferred.
- CPIM certification, a plus.
