The Materials Planning Manager provides support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Manages the materials and inventory planning functions. Being a Materials Planning Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Interfaces with product line coordinators on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments. In addition, Materials Planning Manager typically reports to a Head of a Unit/Department. The Materials Planning Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Working as a Materials Planning Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Leads a team in a specific functional area in a manner consistent with the core beliefs and guiding principles of McCormick's High Performance System to drive business results.   

    • Utilizes problem solving tools and methodologies to implement continual process improvement within the function.   

    • Directs and supports the daily management of the team to prioritize work and achieve goals. Creates an atmosphere of 100% compliance to operational processes and procedures. 

    • Communicates effectively up, down, and across the organization. Creates a vision for the team that is in alignment with the Plant, Division, and McCormick. Communicates organizational and plant objectives, including the attainment of established scorecard metrics (safety, quality, reliability, etc.) and ensures that they are understood and linked to the team's work. 

    • Executes specific projects and action plans (in additional to core work) in support of the functional strategies and goals. 

    • Manages the technical aspects of the role, specific to the functional area. 

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Economics, Business or related discipline or a minimum of 5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality or related discipline in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree 

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience supervising employees in a distribution center / manufacturing / industrial environment 

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience leading others through a project(s) or initiative(s) 

    • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work across functions and interact with all levels of the organization 

    • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving capabilities to assess risk 

    • Demonstrated understanding of the financial impact of business decisions effecting staffing, product components and inventory 

    • Experience successfully leading large teams to support business initiatives 

    • Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic self-starter, work independently and apply sound judgment to solve complex problems with incomplete and/or ambiguous information required and to proactively initiate action steps 

    • Experience successfully handling multiple projects at once and working under pressure 

    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to resolve issues 

    • Excellent communication and organization skills 

    • Ability to propose and implement improvements to systems, methods of work and analysis methods and contribute to ensuring that they are continuously adapted to the business requirements. 

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills  

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Experience working in food manufacturing and an understanding of packaging and processing equipment 

    • TPM experience 

    • Strong mechanical ability  

    • Knowledge of SAP or other enterprise resource planning tool
