Mechanic Technician jobs in North Carolina
Mechanic Technician maintains and services a facility's mechanical equipment, control systems, power distribution systems, and HVAC systems. Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs to a facility's systems and equipment. Being a Mechanic Technician conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate equipment for replacement and identify wear and damage. Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors. Additionally, Mechanic Technician orders parts needed for replacement and coordinates with service providers to complete maintenance tasks. Uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system to track and document activities. Follows established safety procedures and regulations for hazardous materials handling. May have completed a trade apprenticeship or technical training. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Mechanic Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. CDL Diesel Mechanic job responsibilities include :
- Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions
- Repair, reline, replace and adjust brakes
- Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors
- Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined and other potentially troublesome areas
- Plan work procedures using charts, technical manuals and experience
- Communicate with driver to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services
- Repair manual and automatic transmissions
- Replace and adjust headlights
- Comply with all safety, DOT and OSHA guidelines
- Adhere to company rules and regulations
- Ensure cleanliness of shop and surrounding areas

Qualifications :
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year recent medium / heavy diesel maintenance experience
- Must have own hand tools
- Basic computer skills
- CDL license preferred
- Good driving record and proven work history
- Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold temperatures
- DIAGNOSTIC EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS
