A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Job Description:
Education and Experience:
• Educational background as a technician.
• 3 years of experience in mechanical production or lab preferably in optics and/or precision mechanics industry
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Design and develop test fixtures, jigs, mounting brackets, alignments systems, etc.
• Develop CAD models for basic components to do prototyping.
• Modify and improve current concepts for testing equipment.
• Prepare production drawing and effectively communicate with potential manufacturing vendor.
• Participate in design validation and characterization during prototype bring up and product deployment.
• Station, Fixture, characterization set up, motion stage, DUT/Instrument alignment system, Custom Optomechanics part, etc.
• Instruments bring up and lab support, material procurement, prototype testing, 3D printing, reporting, prototyping, etc.
• Drive failure analysis and design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions and corrective actions.
• Mount DUT and Instrument on holding fixtures and machines, using adhesive, friction, or vacuum.
• Station and lab setup, shipment coordination, equipment inventories and supplies, security and access, lab safety and policy compliance.
• Submit and track purchase requests for IPD team for new DOE and station development materials.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment including electrical tools, 3D printer etc.
Requirements:
• Experience with 3D CAD Tools: Unigraphics NX (preference), SolidWorks, ProEngineer, etc.
• Experience in design and implementation of basic test apparatus
• Experience in GD&T (Geometry, Dimensioning and Tolerancing), alignment datum set up, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems is required.
• Ability to communicate well with cross-functional and cross company team members and be able to efficiently collaborate to achieve project goals.
• Hands on experience with prototype assembly and testing
• Experience with precision motion stages, optical mounting techniques, kinematic constraints, etc
