Bedard Pharmacy & Medical Supplies is hiring a Medical Billing Specialist for our Auburn location. This is a full-time position Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Remote hybrid schedule option.
Job Summary
The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for verifying insurance coverage, insurance qualification requirements, and patient responsibility in a timely manner. The Specialist will learn the requirements of the different insurance companies for each of the supplies, equipment, and services supplied by Bedard.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· General office skills (computer, typing, fax, filing, and multiple phone line)
· Proficient in or ability to learn Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, NikoHealth, DocuTrack, DocuSign
· Knowledge of medical terminology, ability to read medical records, and intermediate math skills
· Ability to learn and understand billing protocol, reimbursement requirements, and timely filing
· Ability to gather and review medical documentation needed to qualify patients for appropriate equipment/supplies to ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines
· Ability to learn and understand the insurance approval and/or qualification process for medical equipment and supplies in a timely manner
· Ability to use insurance guidelines to determine the appropriate quantity patients can receive for items, what time period the items can be billed, and when orders can be refilled
· Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and great attention to detail
· Ability to communicate succinctly and clearly in a variety of styles and settings
· Good problem-solving skills
· Independent thinker with ability and desire to also work as a contributing team member
· Ability to stay positive during challenging circumstances
· Medical billing experience preferred
