Medical Policy Manager jobs in Michigan
Medical Policy Manager manages and implements corporate policy and process for medical provider and other reimbursements. Ensures that all claims are reviewed, settled, and processed in compliance with and according to contract provisions and regulatory requirements. Being a Medical Policy Manager evaluates and develops policies and provider reimbursement guidelines to effectively manage and control medical claims cost. Requires a bachelor's degree of finance, business or healthcare administration. Additionally, Medical Policy Manager typically reports to head of a unit/department. The Medical Policy Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. "Qualifications"
- Doctorate from an accredited school of medicine (M.D.) or osteopathy (D.O.) required.
- Ten (10) year's recent clinical experience in area of specialization plus utilization review experience.
- Current unrestricted state of Michigan doctor of medicine (M.D.) or doctor of osteopathy (D.O.) license.
- Board certified or board eligible and working towards certification in a specialty approved by the American
- Board of Medical Specialists or the American Board of Osteopathy.
- Certification in Utilization Review preferred.
- Knowledge of BCBSM, providers, services and facilities preferred.
- Strong teaching and communication skills.
- Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
Departmental Preferences / Summary:
Five (5) years of experience and in utilization review with strong understanding of CMS regulations not limited to NCD and LCD, Medicare product cycle and benefit design requirements.
